VS 2010 seemed to come up at us really soon, as with a lot of the Windows server family, we only just got our heads around 2008 and 2010 drops in our laps.

The Start Page project template is available for free from the Visual Studio Gallery, no need to use reflector.

Nice post Nick (we've met via SAUG),

Its probably a good lesson learnt..

Microsoft usually freeze UI changes after Beta 2 but sometimes design changes creep into RC's. This is one of the first times I've heard of a change that affects UI coded in the time frame from RC to RTM.

While the situation itself kind of sucks you can at least feel some comfort in the fact that it isn't an outright error by yourselves. This book is on my wish list and i'm sure most developers wont be put off by this. By the way there is a small typo in the last paragraph (was should be way) ;)

Johnny, Dude.... no need for the abuse! Don't forget it's beta 1. I'd be surprised if the highlighting color isn't in the list of items that you can control the color of when the product ships. At any rate, if you can't see the highlighting you're no better off than you were in VS2008. If this is your biggest complaint then I think you're missing the big picture when it comes to VS2010.

The highlighting SUCKS royally. There's no way to change the color used for the highlight and it's so g.d. light you have to have X-Ray vision to see it.

Good f'up Microsuck.

I spent 40 hours trying to get visual c++ studio standard and express to work with windows 7 4-24-08 to compile and link a simple 3 - 6 line code, microsoft proved to me it was windows 7. they refused to help me until I tried VSS2008 on my mothers vista computer. I did and it worked on the programs I redundently kept writing for 40 hours like a charm. It seems its the manifest files linker or that it looks for file name with .exe when you are linking a .cpp file but the error was system cannot find the file specified. good luck all. I go back to XP today.
